Look around in this wide, wild world, in any direction, and there's no telling where an open road or unbeaten path will take you. That excursion demands a rugged compact crossover built for the outdoors, a wagon by tradition but a thoroughly modern SUV by trade. That's the new Subaru Outback, and it's got all a seasoned traveler could hope to find for orienteering through parts unknown. What makes it up to the journey? See for yourself, right here!

A choice between two engines drives the 2019 Outback experience. In 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited, and 2.5i Touring trims, that's a 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER flat-four. It's capable of delivering 175 horsepower backed by 174 pound-feet of torque. That makes the SUV both an eager accelerator and a hard worker. Step up to 3.6R Limited or 3.6R Touring, however, and you gain a true draft-horse: a 256-horsepower, 3.5-liter engine that shells 247 pound-feet. Both come mated to a Lineartronic CVT, so they're just as efficient as they are powerful -- expect to achieve up to 25 city mpg and 32 highway mpg -- just the kind of extra mileage you need when you're off-grid.

For especially harsh terrain in Bossier City, Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive comes standard. It's permanent, always-on, and proactive with traction, versus other electronic AWD systems, which are usually "slip-then-grip." Plus, it incorporates an X-MODE, making Outback a reliable compensator for wheel slip, oversteer, and understeer. Bring a towering 8.7-inch ground clearance and standard EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, into the mix, and it's easy to avoid obstacles while remaining situationally aware and clear of accidents.

There's plenty more that the new 2019 Subaru Outback can bring to your adventures around Shreveport, Alexandria and Monroe. If you'd like to find out more, contact our dealership by phone or via the Web to schedule a test drive, or just stop in for a visit. We'll be happy to show you around and explain how the Outback compares to the competition!
